Piste-ing it up in Switzerland

Finally... the long awaited ski trip arrived and it was well worth the wait. The mountains in Davos were spectacular to look at, and it's pretty cool to finally ski somewhere above the tree line! And for those of us who aren't so great on the skis/snowboards, no trees = less chance of injury :)

We have now officially been higher than we've ever been before. In fact we've now been higher than you can possibly get in Australia! A big "thankyou" to John for organising the trip!
Highlights of the weekend include:
  • all of us shitting bricks at the top of the mountain at the first run on our first day, and then Shane being the gentleman sending the women down the mountain first
  • watching Inde perform on stage with the Piano man
  • watching Phoebe and Jody getting up close and personal with the ski racks (yes ok Jody, for the record, Phoebe crashed into you first, and then the ski racks)
  • seeing the looks on peoples' faces as they walked past us while we all played cards with our socks on our heads
  • finding random Aussies and Kiwis, absolutely everywhere
  • going out late every night and then waking at 6:30 every morning for breakfast... nice...

Gordon Ramsay

Well we can now say that we have enjoyed a very fine dining experience. Exactly a month ago, Phoebe jumped on the phone early in the morning and waited patiently to get us a table at Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road (you know the famous chef guy's epinomous restaurant).

We could only get a 6.30 sitting, so we turned up and straight away the service is exceptional. At least 5 people pounced on us, and volunteered to do almost everything for us (in all seriousness I thought at one point, one of them was following me to the bathroom). We chose to eat from the set "Prestige Menu" which had 7 courses of exquisite quality. Personally my favourite was the lobster tortellini - mouth watering stuff! Interlaced into these 7 courses were actually about 4 other mini courses - we were stuffed!

At the end of the night came the bill - lets just say it was about the equivalent of the GNP of a small island nation. But we would do it all again!
