Ireland

We began the weekend with a feast of burgers and buffalo wings (yeah I know - how very Irish), followed by dancing at a sweaty sweaty nightclub somewhere in Dublin. The following morning we piled onto a bus and embarked on a three day tour through the countryside to visit castles, ruins, boglands, and some sleepy Irish towns.

Probably the most famous of the castles we visited is Blarney Castle, home of the Blarney Stone. Legend has it that if you kiss the Blarney Stone, you will be blessed with the gift of the gab. Unfortunately I was blessed with no more than a nasty case of the flu after kissing that stone! It was wet and goo-ey... ewwwww...

One thing that really freaked me out was the Cliffs of Moher. It's about a 200 metre drop to the ocean. Apparently the thing to do is to lie down on your back with your shoulders resting at the edge of the cliff, and tilt your head back until you can see water. It didn't bother me to lie down and look down over the edge, but sitting down and hanging my feet over the edge of the cliff was a totally different story. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I'm not normally afraid of heights but this was just totally bizarre.

And for the record, the Guiness really does taste better in Ireland.
